“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (3). This first Beatitude is so important, that it determines our spiritual destiny!
The Sermon on the Mount was more of a discipleship lesson than it was a sermon. Jesus was teaching His disciples critical concepts for living a blessed, joyful, Christian life. The portion of the sermon that we will be studying in this lesson has been called the Beatitudes, which means the state of supreme happiness. Over the next eight weeks, we are going to look at each of the Beatitudes separately so that we can experience the joy that is found only in Jesus!
