Blessed Are They That Mourn

In this second Beatitude, Jesus promises supreme joy and comfort to those who sorrow in Christ. This message has two applications. There is comfort and joy for the Christian who mourns over sin, and there is comfort and joy available to the Christian who sorrows over loss. For the Christian, there can be joy even in sorrow. “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
